Libya and things in general...

First off, please look up the War Powers Resolution of 1973. Read and try to understand it. Next, go to this web address and read Leslie Marshall's thoughts on the Libya policy, or lack thereof. You'll find her thoughts here: http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/leslie-marshall/2011/03/23/6-myths-about-obamas-libya-policy. I know what a declaration of war, and an attack on the US is, but not real sure of what "specific statutory authorization" is. So, it's hard for me to say whether or not the President is acting within parameters of the Constitution. In his defense, most Presidents ignore the War Powers Resolution altogether, seeing it as an encroachement on their Executive powers. Also, with the current president, who destroys the Constution almost on a daily basis, it's no big surprise. Having said that, the US should not have entered the fray until we had a clearly defined mission, and an exit strategy. I have heard sound bites of President Obama saying, "It is US policy that Ghadaffi must go", but have also heard sound bites, again, of President Obama, saying, basically, that Ghadaffi could posibly stay in power if he changed his postion. Which is it? If you'll recall the upheaval in Egypt about a month ago, the Obama Administration was all over the board, saying Mubarek must, Mubarek can stay. The Egyptians saw this for what it was, and now have no respect or use for the President, though 2 short years ago, when he gave his Cairo speech, they loved him. Bottom line, in my opinion, we have a President with no backbone, no commitment, other than to make himself look good when the crisis has passed, by backing both sides, so no matter how it turns out, he can say, "See? I knew it was gonna be this way, and I was with you the whole time". Only problem is, most people aren't as easily hoodwinked as the Liberal Left in this country.

Something I've been thinking about, in regards to our Fair President, it seems to me that he is not serious about the Presidency. I've heard reports that talked about his defenders claiming he "didn't bargain for this", speaking of all the things involved in doing the job of the President of the United States. What would happen to you if you applied for a job, interviewed for the job, got the job, then came back and told your boss you didn't "bargain for all this"? Your boss would probably expect your resignation immediately and find someone to do the job that you "didn't bargain for". It is my belief that Barack Obama doesn't give a flying rat's behind about doing the job of President, he just wants to BE the President. Maybe in the future, we can come up with a program where everyday citizens can apply to be "President for a day". They can sit in the Oval Office and pretend to be doing Presidential things, while the real President takes care of business. Maybe then we elect a part time President, who seems only concerned with making sure he gets all the perks, while doing a crappy job at being Presidential and taking care of America's business.

In closing, let me say this. I understand that the election of America's first black President is historical, but quite honestly, what a dismal failure this man is. He's failed the nation, the black population, most of which voted for him, he's failed his cronies in the media who built him up to be the best thing sinced canned beer, who now have to make excuses for his blunders. Just as no one should NOT vote for someone based on their color, sex, religion, etc., no one should vote for someone based on those attributes, either. I'm sure you felt good when you cast your vote for Obama, but in doing so, you probably ensured that the first black president would be the last for a long, long time.

Whites in the military

So the AP had a story about an independent report for Congress saying that Military Leadership is too white and too male. According to the report, 77% of senior officers are white, 8% are black, 5% are Hispanic, and 16% are female. One of the reasons the percentage of females is low is their inability to serve in combat units. "The report ordered by Congress in 2009 calls for greater diversity in the military's leadership so it will better reflect the racial, ethnic, and gender mix in the Armed Forces and in American Society". Why don't we worry more about being an undefeatable force and handling the situations we find ourselves in so that we win the battle instead of worrying about what color or gender the Senior Officer Corps mainly is? Kinda crazy to me...
