Healthcare debate

What do you think about the health care meeting, debate, summit thing they are having today? Do you care? Do you think it'll do any good? As conservative minded person (not a full blown, Right Wing Bible thumper- maybe Libertarian is a better word?), and someone who half ass follows the news, I tend to agree with the idea that Our Fair President, whom I am not very fond of (I will explain that at a later time), planned to use the live coverage of this little meeting to embarrass the Republicans, much like he did the Supreme Court Justices at The State of the Union Address. Maybe I'm wrong. I just don't like the idea of the government getting any bigger than it already is. For example, I was driving through a hospital parking lot this morning, smoking a cigarrette. In this state, that's against the rules. Also in this state, when you buy a car, you pay sales tax on the vehicle. Every year when you renew your tags, you are assessed and have to pay personal property taxes on the same vehicle. That's kinda crazy, but back to the hospital. Here I am in my paid for vehcle, with taxes being paid on it every year, driving through a hospital parking lot where there are signs that say, "NO SMOKING ON HOSPITAL GROUNDS" or whatever. Now, in order to conduct business and do my job- perform my duties in a timely and efficient manner- I HAVE to go through this lot. The one with the sign that says I can't smoke in MY car, that is being taxed yearly. What kind of crap is that? Enough big government. Get out of people's way and let them be as successful as they want to be.

  1. What the Supreme Court was not about smaller Government as it created the opportunities for big corps to donate as much money as they want to for a candidate. And as for the health care industry its a joke. Canada, France, UK and yes Cuba even have Universal Health Care. So why not the USA? If not universal how about a public option that's the same treatment that these politicians get.

  2. We already have "big corps" making donations to a political candidate. They are called "UNIONS". Why do you suppose the car companies were going under? Because they negotiated deals with the unions. Health care, pensions, and something like up to $73 an hour takes a toll on an employer after awhile. oh, and that's $73 an hour with all the breaks and paid vacation the unions get. I'm not saying the car companies are blameless, but I'll be damned if I were to agree to pay anybody $73 dollars and hour for anything if they worked for me. ok, maybe a cute chick that was bringin beer...

  3. and as far as our health care system- what about the Canadian dude that went to Miami to have a simple procedure done for a heart murmur? In Canada, they were talking about breaking his sternum- that sounds like a lot of fun! The Dr in Miami made an incision under his arm and got it done. The dude also said that if he had it done in Canada, he'd be cutting in line and catch flak for that. That doesn't sound like a very good system, Brah...

  4. First off the unions only account for 12.3% of our workforce and you know that you would love to make $73hr.

As for Canada what is that one incident? We are rated low on overall health care. Do you think $10 for a 5 cent band aide is right? C'mon the top 10% in this Country get all the breaks and need to start paying more in taxes. Hell most of them have shell corporations so they pay 15-18% while an average person is paying the same % which is BS.

  5. It's not that one incident, my friend. They ALL come here for superior health care. And yeah, i think the band aid is bullshit. The top 1 or 2% pays most of the taxes, which is ok, because they have so much money it doesn't matter to them. But what about the scumbags that pay no taxes because they don't work? Bleeding hearts say, "he can't get a job because no one will hire hire him..." what they leave out is, "...BECAUSE HE'S A DOPEHEAD THAT CAN'T PASS A DRUG TEST!" or maybe he's a thief, or a child molester, or really messed up in a past life. All I'm sayin is, let each individual be judged on their own merits and what they have accomplished. Don't punish this group for being successful, and reward these over here for sitting on their asses while the rest of us get up and so to work everyday. Thanks for following my blog, by the way.
